Deborah Oluwaseun Oluwadele is a lecturer at Pearson Institute of Higher education, where she lectures IT modules, specializing in Business Analysis and Information Systems Design. As a registered member of South African Council of Educator (SACE), She has taught information technology modules across several high schools and lectured at renowned universities including Pearson and UNISA. Deborah is a registered member of Information Technology Professional of South Africa (IITPSA), International Institute of Business Analyst (IIBA) and a Certified Scrum Product Owner. She obtained her master’s Degree in Information Systems and Technology from UKZN, Westville Campus, where she also obtained her Honors degree in Information Systems and Technology. She is currently a PhD candidate in Medical Informatics at UKZN Howard Campus.

Shivona Bimalkumar

Vodacom Internship

My name is Shivona and I am currently undergoing an internship at Vodacom Group in the Vodacom Business division. My studies began in 2014 at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, PMB Campus. I had undergone a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree majoring in Management and Psychology. During my undergraduate years I had covered modules with a core focus on HR, Statistics, Project Management  and Behavioural Analysis. In 2018 I had gone on to pursue my Honours degree in Psychology during which I had wrote and completed my thesis project titled “The Positive and Negative Effects of Diversity in Organizations, Schools and the Workplace.” My journey with Vodacom began in February 2019 at the KZN head office, where I currently work amongst a team in the Indirect Sales division as a Partner Account Manager Intern. My internship has awarded me with the opportunity to learn and be exposed to new skills and new found interests surrounding Big Data, AI and the Cloud.

My name is Edwin Lebuso and I’m currently the Marketing Specialist for the youth at Vodacom based in KZN. I have a B.com Hon. Degree in Marketing from the University of the Free State.

I specialised in Marketing because of my passion for innovation, technology, trends and buying psychology. Ours is to investigate and forecast the customers’ needs then development and Go-to-Market with the best products to satisfy those needs. The best part is my passion for youth development is complimented by Vodacom’s vision. Thus our commitment to empower the youth by highlighting the opportunities afforded by Vodacom such the Discover Graduate program, bursary scheme, e-School, Future Jobs Finder, Internship etc.

I joined Vodacom through the Vodacom Discover graduate programme in 2018.

Sanele Gamede is an educational motivational speaker, life and career coach, entrepreneur, radio personality, journalism and small medium micro enterprise lecturer, author of “the graduate pack, a practical guide for job seekers and finishing you qualification in record time, a guide for students”, founder and CEO of Illada holdings, a personal development and training company.

His passion for education, educational speaking and career coaching comes from his personal experience; lack of mentor or coach and failing his first matric and going back to do it twice

Banele Shozi

Vodacom Network Engineer

Banele Shozi is a Network Engineer at Vodacom specialising in Radio Network Planning and Optimisation where he plans, designs and optimise the radio access network for mobile communications under the network operations department. He is also responsible for digitising the company culture and bringing innovative solutions to operational inefficiencies. He graduated from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal with bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in April 2015, also having had academic exposure to Electronic and Computer Engineering. After graduation he then worked for Umgeni water for two years as a Trainee Maintenance engineer for MV/LV electrical networks and Machines. He then joined the Vodacom Discover graduate programme in 2017 of which he graduated from in December 2018. He enjoys building software solutions for inefficient business processes, He is skilled in C, C++, Python, PHP,SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Assembly programming languages, and is currently pursuing a BCom Business Informatics degree from the University of South Africa.

Samkelisiwe Mngadi

Ethekwini Water and Sanitation Contact Centre Coach

Samkelisiwe Mngadi affectionately known as Sam. is a Coach at Ethekwini Water and Sanitation Contact Centre. She started working at this Contact Centre some 10 years ago as a Contact Centre agent, moved on to supervise the contact center and currently works as a Coach in the Training and Development Section of the Contact Centre. Sam. Also assist’s with minor Information System trouble shooting problems on the contact center floor to put her IT degree to use. Samkelisiwe hold a BCom degree in Information Technology from Damelin as well as a Project Management Diploma from Intec College. She won an Award for Best Supervisor at her Contact Center in 2016 an award voted for by her peers, is her church’s Youth Ministry Chairperson. Sam lives in Hammarsdale, west of Durban and is currently working on her BCom. Business Administration Honours and of course working on taking over the world.

Aaron Mfunda is the Head of Customer Services Department at eThekwini Municipality’s Water and Sanitation Unit from October 2010 to present. Mr. Mfunda garnered his experience since 1989 from various positions including thirteen (13) years at Metropolitan Life. He later joined the Local Government in one of the Eastern Cape’s Local Municipalities for 3 years before embarking on his career journey in the position he currently holds. He holds an MBA Degree from Regent Business School; a BComm Degree in Management from UNISA and has also obtained various qualifications and certificates through UNISA, National Treasury Programme; Damelin School of Banking and Insurance and Metropolitan Academy.

Music assumed a tremendous job in molding the youthful vigorous urban teenagers life, It is music that has had the most effect on his identity and a big motivator for he today. She holds qualifications in Marketing and Communication and Project Management and is currently doing a Law and Psychology Degree through Arden University in the UK.

Chef Sherwyn Weaich is a South African Television Chef, Restauranteur, Cookbook Author and sits on The Executive Advisory Board for The Durban University of Technology Hospitality for Culinary Arts.
Best known for his appearances on Masterchef SA, Ultimate Braai Master, eXpresso and launching The new Morning Show on eTV, Sherwyn has love for food and flavour which he shares in his second cook book, “A Culture of Tastes,” focusing on Durban flavours, whilst working on his third cookbook entitled Taste Africa, a curation of dishes showcasing African Ingredients and Cooking Techniques.

Senior Horticulturist

Jody Fuchs grew up in Durban and graduated cum laude with a National Diploma in Horticulture in 2010, A Bachelor of Technology Degree Horticulture in 2016 and A Master’s Degree in Managerial Science in 2017. Jody has extensive experience in private as well as public sector horticulture. He currently works as a Senior Horticulturist at Durban Botanic Gardens in the eThekwini Municipality’s Parks, Leisure and Cemeteries Department. Jody’s work currently includes but is not limited to Public Education for Sustainable Development and the Strategic Development of the Department through workshops. Dr Rowena Naidoo

Dr Rowena Naidoo has been an academic at Discipline of Biokinetics, Exercise and Leisure Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal since 2011. She is currently the Academic Leader/Head of Department in discipline. Her research interests are in the area of health promotion specifically physical activity in children with disabilities; and anti-doping interventions.

She started her career as journalist in 2003 and after seven she branched into public relations. Pru; as she is know in the media and social spaces, has worked for Ithala, Transnet, Media 24, Independent Newspapers, Magna-Carta Reputation Management and other agencies. She runs a small media and social facilitation firm (Prude Technologies). The company’s main aim is to make sure that small businesses and projects get exposure. Main clients include Transnet, Development Bank of South Africa, Department of Water and Sanitation, Department of Environmental Affairs and others.

Mr. Debapriyo Nag (Dev) is presently employed with MANCOSA as Senior Lecturer (Strategy and General Management). His areas of interest are Strategic Management and General Management. Dev has run Executive Training programs in the areas of Strategy and Leadership and has examined closely the fusion of Leadership with Strategy. He takes an avid interest in connecting abstract themes with Management. Some of his successful programs are Italian Mafiosi and Leadership and Shaka Zulu and The Art of Strategy, as well as Role of Women in leadership which have been popular with his audiences.

Dr Claudine Anita Hingston

Head of MANCOSA Centre for Women Leadership

Dr Claudine Anita Hingston is a Sierra Leonean and is married with children. She was born and bred in Sierra Leone where she worked and studied till she left for the United Kingdom in 2004. In the United Kingdom, she worked as an employee of the Leeds City Council and was also actively involved in raising funds for the education of girls in Sierra Leone. In 2010, Dr Hingston relocated to Durban, South Africa with her family and enrolled for a PhD in gender studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2011. Whilst pursuing her PhD, she worked as a gender studies lecturer and an academic writing instructor at the university.

Philile Mngadi

Electric Apprentice

Philile Mngadi won the South African leg of the World Skills Competition in Electrical Installations which was held at the Durban ICC in January 2019.  She is currently contracted with Edison Power as the Employer and with Shukela Training Centre (STC) as the Training Provider.  Christopher Patrick (Technical Training Officer) and Ray van Heerden (Technical Training Manager) have mentored Philile during her training at STC.  They are both extremely proud of her achievements thus far and wish her all the best in the next round when Philile represents South Africa at the World Skills Competition in Kazan, Russia. Join us on 23 to 25 May2019 at the Exhibition Centre to meet this star so that she can share her experience with you.

Ray van Heerden is a qualified electrician and Millwright. He is a veteran in the training industry, having spent 27 years at the Shukela training facility. He has sat on many committees including the National Trade Test, and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with all those attending.
